The short answer

UAE Company Formation in Short

Company formation in Dubai runs through one of three routes. A mainland company trades anywhere in the UAE. A free zone company gives you 100% ownership and the fastest start, typically 2 to 5 working days. An offshore company holds assets and invoices internationally. Total first-year cost typically runs AED 12,000 to AED 40,000 depending on jurisdiction, activities, office type and visa count, and every fee is itemized before you commit.

Total setup typically runs AED 12,000 to AED 40,000 all in. A free zone license with no visas starts around AED 12,000. A mainland license with an office and visas usually falls between AED 20,000 and AED 40,000. The calculator gives you your exact number, itemized, in under a minute.

Yes. Free zones have always allowed 100% foreign ownership, and since 2021 more than 1,000 mainland activities do too, with no Emirati sponsor. A short list of strategic activities still requires UAE national participation, and we tell you upfront if yours is one.

Usually not for the license itself. Most free zones and many mainland structures register companies remotely with attested documents. You need to be in the UAE once for the visa medical and Emirates ID biometrics, after the company already exists.

It comes down to who your customers are. Selling to people or companies inside the UAE points to mainland. Serving clients internationally or online points to a free zone, which is usually faster and cheaper to start.
